The deadline for entries to the Taikai Convention 2018 Art Contest is April 15th, 2018. The winning artist will be revealed April 22nd, 2018.
Fan artwork must be based on this year’s theme: “Cooperation”. Original characters and overall design need to show influence from anime, video games, or more traditional games and include Taikai Con or TKC and the year (2018). We are leaving it up to the artist to come up with the design. Designs may include characters and/or landscapes. Please contact us if you have any questions about the theme. Though the convention does cross over into other elements of fandom, the artwork should focus on anime or video games. Other elements may be incorporated into your design.
All submissions will be judged based on the following:
• Originality & Overall Composition • Use of theme and Taikai Con • Adherence to Contest Rules (including quality, age appropriate and media format)
Judging will be conducted by the Taikai Corporation Board and Convention Directors. Entries that adhere to the rules will be shown to the community via Facebook. However likes or feedback will not be taken into consideration.
• The artwork must be your own original creation and not previously used for any commercial purpose. That includes selling prints of the art. • Japanese-inspired art styles are highly encouraged, but as long as you embrace the theme of “Cooperation,” your entry is valid for consideration. • Your entry must be appropriate for all ages. • Your entry must not include any copyrighted characters, logos, sprites, or graphics. • Your submission shouldn’t have any sort of signature, initials, or identifying mark on it when you submit. The winning artist will have the opportunity to add their signature, initials, or identifying mark to the art before we send it off for printing. • All entries must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. AKST on April 15th, 2018. • No current Taikai directors or immediate family members of Taikai directors are allowed to enter. • Taikai Corporation will use the winning submission for its 2018 TKC Poster and promotional materials. We won’t use your artwork in any other capacity without your express permission. • Contest art entries must be kept confidential until the winner is announced publicly via Taikai Corp’s official channels. Public disclosure of any submitted artwork before the permitted time will be grounds for disqualification and forfeiture of prizes. • Taikai Con reserves the right to disqualify any entries that violate the stated rules or do not fit publication specifications. • Taikai also reserves the right to choose another piece of artwork for our 2018 promotional materials if all the entries are unsuitable for publication.
Winner of the 2018 Art Contest will be featured on the promotional materials for the 2018 Taikai Convention, given credit and showcased on the our website and social media sites. The winner will also receive a free entry pass to the 2018 Taikai Convention. If the artist would like to a vendor booth they will receive a 20% discount as the winner for 2018 (non-exchangeable).
